More House Pictures

Here are some more pictures of our house.

Susan's First Blog Entry

Jared has been really good about updating this thing, so I guess I should give it a go. I have been very busy because kindergarden, first, and second grades started school two days before the rest. Jared is having open house right now and I am his translator, but there isn't much demand for me, so I was told to post an entry. We just got the wireless internet to work from his room, so it's quite convenient.

I have my first day of teaching two days ago. So far my students are very similar to my first graders in Michigan, except that they don't really speak English. Thankfully I have an assistant to help me with everything.

I have included a picture of Jared in front of our house. I'll try to put more in another entry.

We are here

This is us before we left from GR.

I tried to post on email the other day but it didn't work. Susan and I arrived here safely and are very busy with orientation and getting settled. Our house is very nice and we have lots of space. We have some picture of it and will send them asap. Which in Central American time could be a day or two. Our flights and everything went great. We are greatful for all of your prayers. Thanks.

Open House / Here We Go

Today is the big day that we take our bags and head off to the airport. It is hard to believe that we are really going today. Yesterday was our going away party, which was a lot of fun. We are so glad that so many of our friends and family stopped by and hung out with us for the afternoon. Eventhough saying good-bye is hard it is good to know that we will be back for Christmas and we will be connected through email and prayers.
Last night we were up until 11:00 repacking and weighing all of our luggage to see if we could cram in just one more item or one more pound. But we're calling it good enough. There is only so much you can do. And we realize that we can bring down more at Christmas, or when you all come to visit you can bring items too.
The next time we write we will be in our new home.

We've Moved Out

Well, today we officially moved out of our Havana House. My parents came about 11:00 a.m. and we filled up a large trailer. I can't believe that we have so much stuff, even after we got rid of quite a lot. After mom and dad left Susan and I handed over the keys to the new owner of our house. Sad. Then I went up to McBain to help my folks unload the truck and trailer. But when I got there they had most of it unloaded and moved into their house. Everything is safely stored and not a scratch can be found on anything. Now tonight I set up a wonderful program called "Skype" on my parents computer so that they can call Susan and I for free over the internet. It's really cool, we messed with it for about an hour. Check it out at www.skype.com who doesn't like to talk for free!! Well I should go to bed now. Tomorrow is a big day. Remember open house from 3-5. Love to see you there.

1 Week Left in Michigan

Here we are with a few of the boxes we have packed. The house is getting pretty empty, all of our furniture that was in the living room is gone. In exactly 1 week from today we will be heading to Detroit to leave for Houston. Then on the 23rd we leave with the group of International School teachers for Honduras.

Free Sale

Today we had a free sale to get rid of things in the house that we do not want to move again. So we put out a large FREE sign and almost all the items we put out were taken in about 1 hour. Many thanks to our neighbors who took most of the stuff. Next week Saturday we are planning on moving everything else out of the house and storing it at my parents house. We are looking forward to Aug. 22 (The day we leave), but it is hard to believe that it is almost here.

On Aug. 21 we will be having a good-bye party at Susan's parents house. Email us if you would like to come but did not receive an email from Mrs. Potter.

2 Weeks

There are only two more weeks left until Susan and I leave for Honduras. We are busy packing and getting everything ready to leave. Today we are finishing our letters to mail to our friends and families telling them about what we are doing in Honduras. If you would like to be on our mailing list please email us with your address and email, and we will put you on as well.
